Clare Bowditch Old Skool

Statistics* show that of the 255,000 people Clare Bowditch has performed for, 99% fell in love with her (or at least, they thought she was “alright”). Her gutsy lyrics, fascinating instrumentation and left-field humour have enraptured the lot of them. She’s made three awesome albums, won heaps of shit (including Best Female ARIA 2006) Yen Young Women of the Year (Music), and the Infamous “You’re Ace” Award, for being ace (ah, we made that one up). Most importantly, she is absolutely cherished by her fans, who are involved in just about every step of her creative process.

Clare and her newly expanded eight-piece band (they’re gonna blow your mind!) are super excited to be part of Clare’s fourth album, Modern Day Addictions. In part, it’s a musical departure for Clare, involving a new genre she describes as “political-disco”, which doesn’t really mean a whole lot, but we all liked the sound of it. We think it’s something to do with popular music and power, but we can’t be sure. So far you’ve heard two songs from the album, “Bigger Than The Money” and “The Start of War”. Soon you’ll be hearing a third, and then the album, which we hope will be a friend to you.

*The word “Statistics” was a bit of a stretch, true, but I’m her manager, and that’s what managers do. In truth, most folks do really enjoy being in her audience. And she really has played to over a quarter of a million people in the past five years. Actually, probably twice that. Including TV, it’s a couple of million. Minimum. Although, it must be said, we’re pretty sure not everyone was listening. A few were though. You might even be one of them. You probably deserve a “You’re Ace” award too.
