Marty Brown
Marty Brown has been drumming since he was twelve years old. At nineteen, he began to fancy the idea of recording himself drumming. He began by squandering his family inheritance buying expensive, ancient recording equipment. Somehow, between now and then, he’s taught himself everything he knows and has established a niche for himself as one of Australia’s finest, most inventive musical producers. Truth be told, Clare Bowditch has been hogging him for some time. He’s produced all three of their albums, usually from his back shed in inner-city Melbourne, and when he’s not producing for her, he’s drumming for her. When he’s not drumming, he’s usually performing any number of domestic duties around the house. Marty also doubles around town as the drummer for Melbourne’s Art of Fighting (who won their first ARIA in 2000 for their breakthrough album “Wires”) and has recently appeared town as the special guest drummer for Mick Turner of the Dirty Three.
