Hello Gorgeous (which is what my Dad once said to an attractive lady in the supermarket who, from behind, looked a lot like my Mother),
In this letter I write to you about the new EP I have coming out on July 1st, about the special booklet I’d like us to make together for the Winter Secrets Tour, about how to feed our brains good thoughts, and about parents who we love and miss.
It goes a little something like this:
Are You Ready Yet?
The EP is called Are You Ready Yet, and it’s a gentle glorious little thing, full of three new songs that I co-write with Gotye and Lanie Lane, and acapella songs that my Lady Garden and I recorded in the upper room of a very beautiful convent, and a cover of one of my songs by Lisa Mitchell’s glorious side-project/art-collective Golden Arrows. It was recorded by Marty Brown and Todd Dixon, and I couldn’t be more pleased. I hope you get a joyful high-kick out of it.
The single Now You’re Home featuring the lovely Lanie Lane is available on iTunes there is also a music video to feast your eyes upon here.
Things you should know about the Winter Secrets 2011 Tour
My Casio left me: she will not be coming on tour. I know, but really, it’s ok: it’s time. Not that there won’t be songs off Modern Day Addiction: oh yes there will. There will also be two old guitars, piano where possible, ladies on drums (maybe), some house-hold items that make noise, and whatever instrument the winner of our special local Winter Secrets Competition (you?) decides to play.
You can enter the competition here (especially if you’re from Eumundi, Hobart or Ballarat as we’ve had no entries for these shows yet): www.clarebowditch.com/wintersecrets THIS COMPETITION CLOSES THIS FRIDAY!
The Book I’d Like Us To Make Together
On the night of my show near you, I will be giving every one of you an extremely special and rare booklet to take home with you. It will be full of things that will remind you of what it means to feel “creatively inspired”. To this end, could you please email me some words that mean something to you, of the following variety, for this booklet?
- What is your very favourite winter recipe, and where did you learn it?
- Can you tell us how to make something beautiful?
- Can you tell me a story about something that once happened to you at one of our shows (200 ish words)
- Your favourite quote, or a short (200 words or less) story.
- Write to me about what it is to be your age (whatever age that is: 200 words or less).
- Or you can draw pictures instead: they would be lovely also.
Please entitle your email BOOKLET and send it to hq@onelouder.com.au

Last week I tweeted something about my Dad, just saying that I still often go to pick up the phone and call him. I was really comforted and also overwhelmed by how many of you felt the same thing.
On the Topic of Intelligent Debate and the Environment
It’s all getting a little messy isn’t it? Can I suggest you allow yourself the privilege of disengaging from tid-bits of gossip and get some good thought food into your head? Read a little something from this website, which I discovered via Miriam Lyons and perhaps a little of the latest, greatest words by David Suzuki.
